EVA HORTHY-TURKEWITSCH

Born in Budapest, Hungary, Eva came to Canada as a very young child with her parents. She comes from an artistic family; both her father and her mother (also named Eva) were successful artists. Following this rich tradition, Eva received her Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo and her Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. For more than a decade Eva taught while painting and exhibiting her work. She now devotes her full attention to creating art, including large abstracts and semi-abstract landscapes in acrylic, works on paper and in mixed-media, and sculptures. She works at her North Toronto studio and her work has been exhibited in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Eva finds her artistic inspiration during her frequent travels. Her current works feature environmental themes, including climate change, renewable sources of energy, pollution, and the protection of fragile ecosystems. Some of her mixed-media pieces incorporate recycled and re-purposed materials.
